MENU 'DEL PELLEGRINO
One of the big summer hits of the Way is undoubtedly the notorious pilgrim's menu. Okay you can eat with 7.00 or 8.00 € but I swear that after a couple of days you will be sick .... making binge:
PRIMERO PLATO
Macarrones (help mom .... pasta is better that we eat at home)
Ensalada mixta
Sopa Sopa de lantijes
(depending on the area where you are) ... Castilian, Galician, leones, etc. ... that is almost always more or less noodles in soup!
SECUNDO PLATO
Lomo a la plancha (but those damn pigs in Spain have ????)
Chuleta ternera
Merluza de la plancha (also here that got to do when you're in the mountains cod?)
Meatballs ( help ...)
Papas (Patat inevitable everywhere)
Postre
Yogur (t)!
Natilla
Flan (I have not understood the difference between Natilla and flan!)
Helado
Arroz con leche
Believe ... This menu will haunt you wherever you go. Council to offer vivid, at least on Sundays, a menu is not the pilgrim ... which is easier said than done ... as in the countries of the road almost all restaurants offer the menu of a pilgrim. You, how to enter the restaurant, Siente immediately identified as pilgrims, so that the landlord does not even mention on duty to offer other than the infamous menu. Insist on a good deal 'and get to bring the menu "a la carte".
pay a little bit more (not much) and your digestive system will thank you for not eating the usual "lomo a la plancha".
What can we say, after all you can eat quite well in Spain and also with the menu of the pilgrim survives. A tip
gastronomicco: if you really want to hurt you with food, from Astorga on the typical dish is the "Cocido Maragato," a mega bollitone with all conceivable types of meat, surrounded by cabbage, potatoes, chickpeas, etc. .... a shot of life in the middle of the road! Recommended Alka Selzer in abundance! ... but it's worth
